Five people have been taken to hospital following a caravan fire near Maidstone. Firefighters from Kent fire and rescue were called to Chegworth Road in Harrietsham, near Maidstone, to reports of a caravan alight. Four fire engines attended and crews put the fire out using hose reel jets. Five people were outside on arrival, all suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and some with burns – they were handed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics and have all been taken to hospital. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but is believed to be accidental.
