Police have initiated a murder investigation after the discovery of two deceased individuals in the Highlands.
Police Scotland reported that the body of a 74-year-old man was found inside a property at Robertson Crescent in Keiss at approximately midnight on Sunday.
Later that day, at around 8pm the body of a 39-year-old woman was found within the grounds of Keiss Castle. The police have classified these incidents as “linked,” but they have assured the public that there is no danger to the wider community.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Geddes stated, “Following concerns being raised around 12:05 am on Sunday, the body of a 74-year-old man was found within a property at Robertson Crescent in Keiss. His death is being treated as murder. The body of a 39-year-old woman was found within the grounds of Keiss Castle around 8 pm on the same day during a police search.”
While investigations are ongoing, the police are treating these incidents as connected and contained, assuring the public that there is no risk to their safety. A police presence will be maintained in the area as the investigation progresses.
