Road policing officers are reaching out to the public for information regarding a severe two-vehicle collision that occurred on the A714 near Pinwherry, Girvan.
The incident unfolded at approximately 4.20pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023, involving a grey Porsche GT and a red Renault Scenic.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide assistance. A 72-year-old man, who was behind the wheel of the Renault, sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was promptly transported to University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock, where his condition is currently listed as critical.
The 51-year-old male driver of the Porsche incurred minor injuries, while his 41-year-old male passenger suffered serious injuries. Both individuals were also transported to University Hospital Crosshouse for medical care.
To facilitate the investigation into the crash, the affected stretch of road was temporarily closed.
In connection with the incident, the 51-year-old driver of the Porsche has been arrested and charged with a road traffic offence. He is slated to appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, September 25, 2023. A comprehensive report will be presented to the Procurator Fiscal.
Sergeant Scott Gourlay, leading the inquiry, urged anyone with pertinent information to come forward. He stated, “Our enquiries into the full circumstances of the crash are continuing, and we are asking anyone with information that could assist officers to get in touch. In particular, if you saw the vehicles before the crash or have dash-cam footage, then please make contact with us.”
