Detectives Are Appealing For Witnesses Following An Injury Shooting

Following an injury shooting in Huyton yesterday, detectives are looking for witnesses.

Officers were contacted shortly after 21.45 BST after reports of a number of rounds being fired on Brookwood Road and a man screaming

.Officers arrived at Brookwood Road and discovered a 37-year-old male in the front garden of a house with gunshot wounds to his leg and foot.

The man was reported to have been chased into the garden by another person, who then fired rounds at him before fleeing.

The person was taken to the hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Crime scene investigators are conducting forensic exams at the scene, and house-to-house enquiries are being conducted. Officers will also examine CCTV footage from the vicinity in an attempt to identify the perpetrator.

To reassure the local people, high visibility patrols have been increased in the region.”In the last year, we have all seen the heart-breaking devastation that can be caused by those who use guns on our streets,” Detective Inspector Alyson Keenan said. “I would appeal to anyone in the community who has any information to come forward, so we can keep our streets safe.”These people should be viewed as outcasts, unwelcome in our communities because of the devastation they create. They have no regard for other members of the public and hence deserve no regard from the communities in which they live.”We are persistent in our pursuit of those involved in gun violence and will do all in our power to get these people off our streets and behind bars.”We are committed to combating gun violence, but we cannot do so alone. I would encourage members of the community to contact us if they have any information that could help us. Any information provided will be taken into consideration. Assist us in putting this person behind bars, where he belongs. Please call if you have any information that could help us piece together the evidence we need.”
