Driver charged with impersonating police officer

A driver from Maidstone has been charged with impersonating a police officer following allegations blue flashing lights were used to force another driver to pull over. At around 6.30pm on Saturday 19 October 2019 an altercation was reported involving two vehicles approaching the M2 from Bluebell Hill. Both vehicles then entered the motorway on the London bound carriageway, where it is alleged one of drivers illuminated a blue light that was in the front of his vehicle. The victim pulled onto the hard shoulder but became suspicious the other driver was not a police officer and called 999. Later that evening, enquiries led to the arrest of 33-year-old Christopher Dance, of Redstart Avenue, Maidstone. Mr Dance was charged with impersonating a police officer. He was also charged with a public order offence, in relations to alleged threats and abusive language made to a police officer. He was bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 8 November 2019.
