Emergency Services called to Gas explosion in Blackpool Pregnant Woman Remains Trapped

Emergency Services have called at around 5:55pm this afternoon (Saturday 23 September) to the report of a gas explosion at a guest house on Charles Street, Blackpool. Police attended along with partners from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the Ambulance Service. A number of people have been treated by paramedics at the scene and two people who were rescued have been taken to hospital. It is understood that a pregnant woman was trapped following the explosion Aimee Barrow said her mum lives in the effected road The whole back of the house has been blown. Windows and glass in middle of street. Don’t think its looking good for the old lady she was in kitchen when it exploded. A safety cordon has been put in place and nearby residents on Charles Street along with Milbourne Street have been evacuated. Road closures have been put in place on nearby Cookson Street and Grosvenor Street and people are being advised to avoid the area. Police are avising if been displaced and would like a brew, you can either go to the Salvation Army Citadel on Raikes Prade or St John’s Ch, Church St.
