Approximately 10kg of cannabis was discovered in a vehicle travelling on the M4 last night following a short police pursuit. Shortly after 5.30pm, officers were on patrol conducting speed checks on the M4 when they became aware of a silver Mercedes travelling at speed. Following a short pursuit from the M4 junction 15, through the Chiseldon area, the vehicle stopped and two people made off. A large shopping bag containing approximately 10kg of herbal cannabis was located and seized by officers. An area search was carried out by officers, with the police helicopter (NPAS) joining the search to locate the two individuals. The instructions from up above enabled officers on the ground to locate one of the men. One man, aged 35 and from Barnsley, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. He was taken to Gablecross custody in Swindon where he remains. Several mobile phones and £445 cash was seized. Enquiries are currently ongoing to identify the second man who fled the scene.
