A man has been arrested after punching a police officer in the face on a London Underground train.
The incident took place on a District Line service between South Kensington and Gloucester Road at approximately 7.50am on January 23.
Altercation Escalates to Assault
According to British Transport Police, two men were involved in an argument while travelling westbound on the Underground. The confrontation escalated, leading to one of the men punching the officer on the left side of his face.
The suspect, a man in his 20s, was immediately arrested at the scene on suspicion of:
- Assault causing grievous bodily harm
- Assaulting an emergency worker
- Possession of a Class B drug
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The British Transport Police (BTP) are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.
A BTP spokesperson said:
“Did you witness the incident, or do you have any information which could help the investigation?”
