Police Close A33 Basingstoke Road near Abbots Worthy Following Serious Collision

A major section of road in Abbots Worthy has been shut to motorists following a serious collision this evening. The collision happened just after 5:20pm. Emergency were called to the scene. Officer from Hampshire Roads Policing,two ambulances a rapid response paramedic attended. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene near to the busy junction of the A33 between Abbots Worthy and Kings Worthy near Winchester. The A33 Westbound section is likely to remain closed for some time whilst officers deal with a serious collision. Drivers are being asked to seek alternative routes whilst Police deal with the incident. A spokeswoman from South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) said “They received a call at 5:24pm to the A33 Winchester by-pass the incident involved a single vehicle road traffic collision. The spokeswoman went on to say We sent two ambulances,rapid response paramedic and an ambulance officer to the scene. One patient was taken to Southampton General Hospital with Life changing injuries More to Follow Shortly
