Birthday Bash Turns Fiery at Ryde Pub!
An 18th birthday party at The Fishbourne Inn in Ryde took an unexpected twist on Bank Holiday Monday. The guest of honour’s sparkler candles triggered the pub’s fire alarm, sending fire crews racing to the scene.
Sparklers Spark Alarm Chaos
Grandmother Shirley Ralph from Newport, who organised the party, explained: “The alarm was set off by the special sparkler candles on my grandson’s birthday cake.” The lively pub was packed inside and out when the fire engines arrived.
Firefighters Take It in Stride
Guests were shocked as firefighters burst in, but relief came quickly when no fire was found. “We felt so embarrassed,” Shirley admitted, “but the fire crew were very understanding and took it all in good humour.”
Birthday Boy Meets Fire Crew
