West Belfast Primary School Grieves After Tragic Student Death
Black Mountain Primary School is in mourning following the heartbreaking death of one of its pupils.
The school confirmed on Tuesday that a five-year-old P2 student passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital after battling a severe Strep A infection in intensive care.
School Rolls Out Extra Support for Staff and Pupils
In a touching statement, the school said: “This is a devastating loss for the Black Mountain Primary School family and our community. Our thoughts are with the pupil’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
Black Mountain Primary is doubling down on support, bringing in additional trained staff to help both students and teachers cope with the tragedy. The Education Authority’s Critical Incident Response Team has also been called in to provide specialist support.
Parents Kept in the Loop Amid Ongoing Health Concerns
The school has sent letters home, detailing available support services and expressing sympathy. Officials are closely cooperating with the Public Health Agency to monitor the situation and reassure parents.
