Hero Cop Saves Motorcyclist Trapped Under Lorry
In January 2022, PC Grace and a colleague rushed to a horrific crash near Bobbing, Kent. When they arrived, chaos reigned. Bystanders screamed as they took in the shocking scene.
A motorcyclist lay trapped beneath a flatbed lorry, screaming in agony with visible injuries. The flatbed was pressing down on him, and every second counted.
Quick-Thinking Officers Lift Lorry to Save Life
Without hesitation, PC Grace and his colleague took control. They secured a jack and, with help from nearby members of the public, began to lift the heavy lorry off the injured rider.
PC Grace crawled underneath the unstable vehicle, risking collapse, to drag the motorcyclist to safety. He then removed the helmet and started CPR while waiting for ambulance crews. Miraculously, the rider survived.
Bravery Award Nomination for Life-Saving Cop
PC Grace displayed exceptional courage to reach the motorcyclist and free him from the lorry in what was a horrific incident,” said Neil Mennie, Chair of Kent Police Federation. “I’m sure the rider would have died if he hadn’t done what he did.”
PC Grace’s fearless actions have earned him a nomination for the National Police Bravery Awards. The ceremony, recognising outstanding bravery by officers across England and Wales, will take place in London this July.
PC Grace, who prefers to keep his first name private, will be among the honoured guests at the event. His colleagues at Kent Police are immensely proud of his heroic deed.
