The award also highlights Professor Kuo’s department at Strathclyde, ranked 1st in Europe and 3rd worldwide for Marine and Ocean Engineering in the 2022 Shanghai Rankings. Colleagues Professor Dracos Vassalos and Professor Atilla Incecik are former William Froude Medal winners too.
“It is a great honour and pleasure for me to receive the Froude medal,” said Professor Kuo. “As a former student, this inspires me on two fronts.”
“First, to push my goal of equipping students with competence, confidence, communication, and entrepreneurship for the maritime and offshore sectors.
Secondly, to develop a global vision where naval architects lead efforts to meet future energy demand through ocean renewables, replacing fossil fuels. This mission needs support from all, especially young naval architects and offshore engineers.”
