Man Shot in Face with BB Gun in Basingstoke – Suspect in Custody
Detectives have arrested a 21-year-old man following a shocking morning assault in Stag Hill, Basingstoke. The attack happened at around 8.30am on Saturday 28 October, when two men approached a 28-year-old victim asking for a lift.
Refusal Leads to Violent Assault
After the victim refused to give them a lift, the pair launched a brutal attack. During the assault, the man was shot twice with what police believe was a BB gun – once in the face and once in the back. He was rushed to North Hampshire Hospital but later discharged, with injuries thankfully not life-threatening.
Suspect Held, Hunt on for Accomplice
A 21-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. The two attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault.
Police Appeal: Do You Recognise These Men?
One suspect is described as white, 25–30 years old, around 6ft 2in, skinny with very pale skin, short black receding hair, scruffy beard, wearing a black hoodie with white sleeve details and black tracksuit bottoms.
The other is white, 25–30 years old, about 5ft 10in, stocky build, has a tattoo or mark below his right eye, full beard, blonde or ginger hair, and wore a grey or light hoodie.
Detective Inspector Lee Colvin said: “This was a nasty assault involving a weapon which could have had far more serious consequences than it did. We want to trace those responsible. Were you in Stag Hill this morning? Do you recognise the two men from the descriptions given? Any information you may have could be vital, so please contact us.”
Police officers will be patrolling Stag Hill today as part of their enquiries.
