Wild Student Party in Portsmouth Crushed by Police
Police swooped on a noisy party at Catherine House student accommodation on Stanhope Road after reports of loud music. The gathering broke current Health Protection Regulations, putting everyone at risk.
Fines and Consequences Hit Partygoers
Officers from the Response and Patrol Team showed no mercy. Those caught face £200 fixed penalty notices for flouting the rules. Authorities warn bigger parties of 15+ people now risk £800 fines as per the latest government crackdown.
University and Police Issue Stern Warnings
Inspector Marcus Kennedy, Portsmouth’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “While most students have followed national restrictions, this party was reckless. Enforcement was necessary. Such actions put the NHS under pressure and risk lives.”
Professor Graham Galbraith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth, added: “I am incredibly disappointed by this behaviour. It’s totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Those involved face police fines and possible permanent exclusion from the University.”
Majority of Students Stay Responsible
Despite this isolated incident, police praised the majority of students for adhering to the rules and helping to limit virus spread during the pandemic.
