Drone and Dog Team Rescue Missing Woman in Kent
Kent police mounted a dramatic search after a woman in her 30s vanished from her Ashford home late on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Officers swooped on nearby fields and outbuildings at around 9.35pm but came up empty.
High-Tech Search Takes to the Skies
Enter PC Andrew Green from the Roads Policing Unit – a skilled drone pilot – who joined the ground team to scan the rural area from above. Alongside PC Jessica Arnold and her trusty police dog Wilma, Green’s aerial reconnaissance was the game-changer.
Found Safe After Midnight
The drone spotted a figure nearly a mile away in the fields. PC Green guided dog handler Arnold and Wilma straight to her, just after midnight. Thankfully, the woman was safe and well, and officers gave her a lift back home.
“When someone is reported missing, our priority is to find them as soon as possible before any harm can come to them,” said Sergeant Michael Gallon of the Ashford Local Policing Team. “We call on specialists, including a drone pilot and a police dog in this case.”
“It was a true team effort, and I’m grateful to all who helped bring her home safe.”
