Firefighters Rescue Family After Blaze Ravages Purley Home
Couple Escape Without a Scratch
A terrifying fire broke out at a two-storey semi-detached house on Brighton Road, caught between Purley and Coulsdon, on Tuesday evening. The couple living there managed to escape unharmed as Croydon firefighters rushed to the scene at around 7:20pm.
Top Floor Reduced to Ruins
The blaze badly damaged the top floor near the Purley Arms, between Purley Road and Wyche Grove. Smoke and fire gutted the room, with photos revealing charred walls and curtains still hanging from an open window.
Quick Response Prevented Tragedy
Thanks to the swift efforts of the London Fire Brigade, the flames were extinguished by 7:40pm, preventing further destruction and a potential tragedy.
