East Sussex A21 Shut Both Ways After River Bursts Banks
The A21 in East Sussex is completely closed in both directions after flooding caused by the River Line bursting its banks near Sedlescombe. The stretch between the A28 (Baldslow) and the A2100 (Johns Cross) is underwater and impassable.

Sussex Police and Highways England contractors are managing the situation. Drivers are urged to follow the official diversion routes to avoid getting stuck in the floods.
Official Diversion Routes Laid Out
- Southbound drivers: Exit the A21 at B2089, head east through Cripps Corner and Broad Oak. Then turn right on the A28, heading south to rejoin the A21 at Baldslow.
- Northbound drivers: Exit the A21 at Baldslow, follow the A28 north to Broad Oak, then turn left on B2089 west to rejoin the A21 near Johns Cross.
