Black Rock to Marina Link Shakes Up Traffic
A brand new pedestrian and cycle route is on the way as part of the Black Rock rejuvenation project. This means major changes for drivers heading in and out of the Marina.
Marina Exit Ramp Closed, Upper Ramp Opens Two-Way
Starting the week of January 9, the Marina’s exit ramp (lower ramp) will shut temporarily. To keep things moving, the entrance ramp (upper ramp) will open to two-way traffic.
Work is expected to wrap up by summer, with the Marina staying fully open for business throughout the project.
Council Issues Apology and Traffic Advice
“We apologise to all Marina residents and visitors for any inconvenience the changes may cause,” said Brighton and Hove Council.
“Vehicles leaving the Marina and heading west into Brighton will need to follow a signed diversion via Wilson Avenue and Gas Works junction on Marina Way.”
Bus Delays Likely, Especially on Busy Days
Brighton & Hove buses are in the loop and warn of possible delays on busier days around the Marina.
Drivers and visitors should plan ahead for the traffic shuffle while this vital new link is constructed.
