Eastern Road Shuts for MRI Installation at Royal Sussex Hospital This Weekend
Road Closure Alert: 8th-9th October
Eastern Road will be closed this weekend, 8th and 9th October, next to the 3Ts Redevelopment site at Royal Sussex County Hospital. Traffic will be rerouted south along St George’s Road. Don’t worry – all hospital entrances and buildings remain fully open as usual.
Big Boost: Two New MRIs Coming In
The closure allows for two brand-new MRI machines to be craned into the main Imaging Department on level 4 of the new building. When doors open in spring 2023, patients will enjoy cutting-edge scanning tech in a bright, spacious, purpose-built environment.
Stunning Views and Smoother Visits
The new main imaging outpatient waiting room faces the sea and boasts access to a large terrace. One imaging team member said, “People who have used the service in the Barry Building won’t believe this is part of the same hospital. It’s so different and there’s so much more space.”
Fracture Clinic Joins Imaging Level
The Fracture Clinic will also be on level 4, close to the imaging facilities. This smart move makes patient visits easier and streamlines staff work. The whole design aims to simplify patient journeys throughout the hospital’s new wing.
