Air Ambulances Take to the Skies at Night Across South Central

Big news for Hampshire and Isle of Wight! The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) and Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA) have officially launched night-time Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) ops across the South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) region.

Cutting-Edge Choppers Ready for Night Missions

HIOWAA’s Airbus H135, piloted by elite Bond pilots, is kitted out with the latest night-vision goggles. Fully equipped for night work, the chopper lets the Charity’s specialist doctor and paramedic teams deliver life-saving care after dark—boosting their ability to save seriously ill or injured patients 24/7.

Teaming Up for Extended Air Coverage

TVAA flies an identical Bond-operated helicopter. Together with SCAS, these two air ambulances are adding seven hours of crucial night coverage until 2am. This extended service covers Hampshire and beyond, ensuring rapid medical response when it matters most.
