Severe Cold Snap Hits Sussex with 90% Chance of Icy Weather

A level 3 amber alert has been issued for Sussex, warning of a 90% probability of severe cold and icy conditions from 6pm Wednesday 7 December until 9am Monday 12 December. The freezing weather threatens to disrupt services and poses serious health risks to vulnerable residents.

Arctic Blast to Send Temperatures Plummeting

The Met Office has announced that bitterly cold air from the Arctic will sweep across the UK starting Wednesday, bringing a deep chill through Thursday. Expect widespread frosts, with some potentially severe overnight freezes.

“Daytime temperatures will hover near or just above freezing, while nights plunge lower. Wintry showers may hit coastal and some inland areas, causing icy patches,” the Met Office warned.
