Tragedy on Barnsley Bypass: One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash
A man has died and another is seriously hurt after a horror smash on the A635 Goldthorpe Bypass in Barnsley this morning.
Multi-Vehicle Pile-Up Involving Two HGVs and Two Cars
Emergency services rushed to the scene at 7.24am following reports of a collision involving two heavy goods vehicles and two cars. Despite their best efforts, one of the HGV drivers sadly died from his injuries.
The other HGV driver was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Meanwhile, occupants of the two cars escaped with minor injuries.
Road Closure and Traffic Chaos Expected
South Yorkshire Police have confirmed the victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
The A635 Goldthorpe Bypass remains closed for most of the day, triggering major delays. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.
Traffic is backing up on surrounding routes, especially Doncaster Road and High Street in Goldthorpe, as motorists divert around the crash site.
