Blaze Rips Through Marden Home in Suspected Arson Attack
Firefighters launched a major arson probe after a huge fire gutted a house and outbuildings on Battle Lane, Marden.
Massive Firefighting Operation
Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene at 11.58am on Wednesday following reports of a residential blaze.
At the peak of the fire, 11 fire engines, two bulk water carriers, and a technical rescue unit battled the inferno. Crews fought back with hydrants, hose reel jets, main jets, and even used water pumped from a nearby swimming pool to douse the flames.
Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus worked for hours to fully extinguish the fire and cool down hot spots.
No Injuries Reported
The property was unoccupied when the blaze broke out. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Deliberate Fire Under Investigation
Kent Police have confirmed the fire is believed to have been started deliberately. They are cooperating closely with fire crews to determine how the fire began.
“This was a significant fire requiring a large response from across the county. Thankfully, no one was inside the property at the time, but due to the scale of the blaze, an investigation is now under way,” a Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.
Police Issue Urgent Appeal
Kent Police have called on anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage from the Battle Lane area around the time of the fire to come forward and assist with their enquiries.
