RNLI Lifeboat Rescues Stricken Yacht Off Isle of Wight
Bembridge RNLI lifeboat was scrambled at 6.50pm tonight following an urgent call from UK (Solent) Coastguard. A 26ft yacht, with two crew onboard—including an unwell skipper—had lost engine power roughly 27 miles south of Ventnor.
Yacht Found Closer Than Reported Amid Choppy Seas
By 7.40pm, the crew located the yacht closer to shore than initial reports suggested. Battling 2-3 metre swells, the rescuers swiftly attached a tow line and hauled the stricken vessel into the safety of Bembridge Harbour.
Safe Return After Night-Time Rescue
The yacht was secured alongside the Visitors Pontoon before the lifeboat, Alfred Albert Williams, made its return to the boathouse. The entire operation wrapped up by 11.45pm, with all crew safe and sound.
