Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a massive blaze yesterday at a four-storey commercial block on Regent’s Park Road, Chalk Farm.
Ground Floor Devastated, Neighbour’s Roof Hit
The fire tore through the ground floor, leaving it gutted, and spread to damage half the roof of the neighbouring property. Seven people fled an adjacent building before fire crews arrived. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Road and Rail Chaos
Regent’s Park Road remains shut at the Haverstock Hill junction as firefighters battle the blaze. Train services between London Euston and Watford Junction are also hit, with delays and cancellations because of the fire’s proximity to the railway. Stay updated on National Rail.
Fire Brigade’s High-Drama Takedown
Firefighters deployed a 32-metre turntable ladder as a water tower to tackle flames from above. The Brigade got the first 27 emergency calls at 9:31am and sent teams from Kentish Town, Holloway, West Hampstead and nearby stations. The fire was finally under control by 1:04pm.
Officials are now probing what sparked the inferno.
