Surrey Emergency Services Launch ‘Blue Light Serenade’ to Honour Key Workers
This Thursday at 8pm, Surrey’s emergency services will light up the night with a special salute to key workers. As part of the weekly #ClapforCarers, police, fire, and ambulance crews will flash their blue lights simultaneously at all five of Surrey’s acute hospitals.
A Coordinated Display of Unity and Gratitude
Every week, emergency vehicles are set to gather—traffic and incidents permitting—at St Peter’s Hospital (Chertsey), Royal Surrey Hospital (Guildford), Frimley Hospital (Camberley), East Surrey Hospital (Redhill), and Epsom Hospital.
The “Blue Light Serenade” will coincide with the nationwide applause at 8pm. This coordinated effort is organised by local Police, Fire, and Ambulance teams alongside hospital staff, showing Surrey’s united front against the coronavirus crisis.
Leaders Praise County’s Team Spirit
“We wanted to make a statement of thanks to everyone involved in the fight against coronavirus across this county,” said Deputy Chief Fire Officer Dan Quin. “Surrey’s Local Resilience Forum partners have worked remarkably together to support our NHS and residents.”
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Alison Barlow added: “A weekly ‘Blue Light Serenade’ is a fantastic way to unite our emergency services and show support to keyworkers. Huge thanks to all making this happen.”
