Body Found in Abingdon Woodland in Missing Man Hunt

Tragic Discovery Near Radley

Thames Valley Police have sadly found a man’s body this afternoon (October 6) during an ongoing missing person search. Officers discovered the body around 12:40 pm in woodland near Radley, Abingdon.

Believed to Be Missing Dean

While formal ID checks are still underway, police believe the remains belong to Dean, reported missing from Heyford Hill, Oxford, on September 7, 2024. Detective Sergeant Nathan Adby of Abingdon CID said:

“Extensive enquiries and searches have been ongoing for Dean since he was reported missing, and very sadly, a body has been located this afternoon by officers and colleagues from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe this to be Dean. His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts are with the family at this very distressing time.”

Death Treated as Unexplained, Not Suspicious

The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner as investigations continue.
