Bristow Helicopters Lands Big Contract Extension for UK Search and Rescue
Bristow Helicopters Limited has bagged a contract extension to keep flying the UK’s search and rescue (SAR) helicopters for HM Coastguard. This means the emergency response service of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) will stick with Bristow as a crucial player in saving lives at sea.
Contract Now Secured Until 2026
Originally awarded the SAR helicopter contract back in March 2013, Bristow’s new agreement will run through to 31 December 2026. This extension also buys time for the MCA to sort out its next big contract, dubbed the UKSAR2G programme.
“Our specialist teams have worked tirelessly, diligently and with unquestionable pride to ensure the transition from a military and coastguard operation to a fully commercialised SAR helicopter service,” said Alan Corbett, Bristow Helicopters’ CEO and Senior VP for Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Search and Rescue.
“We have committed ourselves to delivering a service equal to or better than what it replaced. A post-implementation report by QinetiQ, commissioned by the MCA, confirms the success of that process.”
“Bristow remains fully committed to working with the MCA to achieve remaining goals. The contract extension allows us to introduce new capabilities to the fleet and explore future technologies.”
