BA Euroflyer Scores Official Licence as London Gatwick Base Grows
BA Euroflyer has just hit a major milestone. After a sizzling first summer flying out of London Gatwick, the British Airways-owned airline bagged its very own Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and Operating Licence from the UK Civil Aviation Authority. This seals its status as a fully-fledged carrier and paves the way for new expansions.
New Licence Means Smooth Transition and Expansion at Gatwick
BA Euroflyer, much like BA Cityflyer, flies under the trusted British Airways brand, delivering the premium service BA customers expect. With its own AOC and licence, the airline will now officially transfer aircraft, pilots, and cabin crew from British Airways to BA Euroflyer, consolidating its growth hub at Gatwick.
Tom Stoddart, Acting CEO of BA Euroflyer, hailed the achievement:
“Receiving the AOC is a momentous day in the BA Euroflyer journey and is testament to the hard work of the brilliant teams that have worked closely with the UK Civil Aviation Authority on the AOC and Operating Licence applications, whilst also managing the ramp-up of a start-up airline during its first summer of operations.”
BA Euroflyer: Returning International Short-Haul Flights to Gatwick
Launched in March 2022 under British Airways’ original licence, BA Euroflyer kickstarted international short-haul flights out of Gatwick after the pandemic shutdown. Last summer saw a surge of passengers jetting off to more than 30 hotspots like Amsterdam, Santorini, and Marrakech. Hundreds of new crew members and support staff joined the team to meet growing demand.
In the coming months, BA Euroflyer will gradually take on 10 Airbus A320s and 9 A321s from British Airways, including the recent addition of a sleek new A320 (registration G-GATL). Flight and cabin crews are undergoing an Operator’s Conversion Course to get fully licensed under BA Euroflyer.
