Water chaos hits Ryde after major pipe burst! Homes in and around Ryde face low water pressure or total supply blackout following a burst water main on Ashey Road early Sunday morning, Southern Water has confirmed.
Emergency Repairs Underway
Engineers rushed to the scene this morning after the water main exploded on the outskirts of Ryde. Emergency repair work is in full swing but has forced the closure of Ashey Road, which is expected to stay shut until at least Monday evening.
Residents Left High and Dry
Southern Water revealed the leak was spotted early Sunday, causing some households to suffer from little or no water supply.
A spokesperson said: “This morning we’ve discovered a burst water pipe on Ashey Road, which may be causing water supplies to be off or at low pressure for some of our customers. We know how difficult it is to have no water, especially at this time of day, we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.”
Promises to Fix ASAP
They added: “We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplied back on as soon as we can.”
For now, Ryde residents will have to brace the disruption as crews work round the clock to fix the busted main and restore normal service.
