Car Crashes Into Fareham Creek After Skidding Through Railings
A car careered off the A27 Gosport Road just after 11pm on Tuesday night, January 26, before crashing into Fareham Creek.
Driver Loses Control at Fareham Turnoff
Reports say the vehicle lost control as it took the Fareham turnoff, skidding through railings and mounting the pavement. The car then smashed through barriers and rolled into the water.
Emergency Teams Rush to Rescue Trapped Passengers
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called at around 11.20pm with reports of people trapped inside the vehicle. HM Coastguard and Portsmouth Lifeboat crews joined paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service to free two injured casualties.
Eyewitnesses Describe Harrowing Scene
Three anonymous teenagers who witnessed the crash said:
“We were walking towards Fareham Town Centre when we heard skidding from an approaching car. A dark vehicle came hurtling towards us. We barely dodged it as it smashed through the barriers just inches away.”
“It skidded across the pavement, hit another barrier, then rolled into Fareham Creek.”
Two casualties were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to hospital by land ambulance.
Local Residents Demand Action on Dangerous Road
A nearby resident told us:
“I’m in shock. We see boy racers speeding down this road all the time. It’s really dangerous—if something isn’t done soon, someone’s going to die.”
