Rail chaos erupted across southeastern London early Saturday after a car bizarrely ended up on the tracks at New Beckenham station.
Crash Sparks Early Morning Emergency
At around 4:30 AM, emergency services raced to the scene following reports that a silver Ford had driven onto the railway line. Photos reveal firefighters checking the vehicle to confirm nobody was trapped inside.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics and an incident officer attended but were stood down with no injuries reported.
Train Delays and Frustration for Commuters
The car was swiftly removed, and Network Rail ran a full safety inspection before reopening the line. Still, southeastern lines were hit with delays of up to 25 minutes and some cancellations.
Commuters vented their anger and disbelief online:
