Mobile Phone Thief Targets Hairdressers Across Kent – Police Launch Hunt
Spree Hits Salons in Sittingbourne and Strood
Police have released CCTV footage as they hunt a crafty crook who swiped mobile phones from hairdressers in Kent. On Thursday, 5 December 2024, three thefts hit Sittingbourne salons. The suspect posed as a customer booking an appointment for his partner. While staff were distracted, the man snatched phones and made off.
The same slick thief struck again that afternoon at a Strood hair salon, using the same trick to snatch valuables.

Inspector Allen Searle from Kent Police confirmed the cases are connected. “In every incident, staff phones were stolen while they were distracted by a man pretending to be a customer,” he said.
“We are now releasing an image of a man who could help with our enquiries. Anyone who recognises him should get in touch immediately.”
