Fisherman Max Maguire Stabbed to Death Outside Lymington Club
Max Maguire was fatally stabbed in the chest outside a Lymington nightclub in October 2021. The 21-year-old attacker, Draven Jewell, was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter over the fisherman’s death.
Drama Unfolded at Winchester Crown Court
Draven Jewell faced trial at Winchester Crown Court. Alongside the manslaughter charge, he was found guilty of wounding Luke Gray, a friend of Maguire’s, and Georgia Hole, another friend, while being acquitted of attempted murder and several other wounding charges.
- Jewell admitted to carrying an offensive weapon — a Huusk chef’s knife.
- Garon Jewell, 19, was cleared due to lack of evidence.
Club Night Brawl Sparked by Age Dispute and Refused Nitrous Sale
The chaos began after a disagreement between two groups inside the club. The fight erupted when one group challenged Garon Jewell’s age. Tensions boiled over further when Draven refused to sell a nitrous oxide canister to the rival group, which included the victims.
Luke Gray suffered two serious stab wounds to his lower back requiring emergency treatment, while Georgia Hole sustained a less severe chest injury.
Prosecutor Details Fatal Injury as Jewell Claims Self-Defence
“Max Maguire died within moments from a wound he received to the left side of his chest. The knife penetrated his lung, damaged a major artery internally, and caused catastrophic, non-survivable injuries,” said prosecutor Adam Feest QC.
Draven Jewell told the court he acted in self-defence because he feared his brother’s life was at risk during the violent clash.
