Reindeer Riot in Merseyside! Christmas Creature on the Loose

An emergency was sparked in the normally peaceful seaside town of Formby, Merseyside, after a massive reindeer bolted from a local Christmas event. What followed was a frantic, multi-agency hunt involving police, Royal Marines, and the coastguard.

Massive Search Across Beach and Dunes

The runaway reindeer, sporting impressive antlers, was first spotted by officers but vanished by evening. Panic set in as fears grew it might wander into the dangerous waters of the River Mersey or onto busy roads.

Teams from Southport Offshore Rescue Trust, armed with thermal binoculars, teamed up with HM Coastguard from Southport and Crosby. They scoured the beach and sand dunes tirelessly to track down the festive fugitive.

“Although capture proved difficult, the team successfully shepherded the animal into the sand dunes at Altcar Rifle Range, where a police drone maintained watch,” said the rescue crew.

Heroic Rescue Calms Chaos

Finally, the reindeer settled. A vet, supported by Royal Marines, safely secured the creature—bringing huge relief to local residents. The animal had escaped from the Santa’s Enchanted Forest attraction in Formby.

A witness told Formby Bubble:

“We thought it was a stag at first, but then a National Trust ranger asked if we’d seen a real reindeer. We pointed them north up the beach. Then the police arrived—really worried about it getting onto the road.”

Residents praised the daring rescue effort. One said, “Well done everyone! At first, I thought there was a glow-in-the-dark reindeer wandering about. My Christmas spirit soared a little.”

Another joked, “Someone have a word with Santa—he needs to keep his lads under control for another couple of weeks.”

Festive Chaos Wrapped Up Thanks to Teamwork

“Christmas is saved thanks to some great work from multiple agencies,” the rescue team added, wrapping up a heartwarming winter tale amid the festive chaos.
