Kent Police have swooped on a suspect after a suspicious package was sent to a Covid-19 vaccine production site in Wrexham, North Wales.

The potentially dangerous parcel arrived at the vaccine plant on the morning of Wednesday, 27 January 2021, raising alarm bells amid the ongoing pandemic.

Police Raid in Chatham Leads to Arrest

As part of a major investigation led by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, officers executed warrants at properties on Luton Road and Chatham Hill, Chatham, early Thursday, 28 January.

A 53-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of sending the packages. He remains in custody while police carry on with their inquiries.

Authorities have stressed that there is no current evidence of a continuing threat to the vaccine facility or the public.
