EHDC Leader Issues Litter-Pick Challenge to Local Businesses
Cllr Richard Millard, leader of East Hampshire District Council (EHDC), is calling on businesses to roll up their sleeves and tidy up their grounds as part of a district-wide blitz on litter.
District Goes All Out for Keep Britain Tidy
EHDC is pumping resources into sprucing up the district. While residents gear up for community litter-picks, Millard insists businesses must take responsibility for their own yards, car parks, and surrounding areas.
Tomorrow, Friday 17 March, East Hampshire joins the nationwide Keep Britain Tidy campaign. Volunteers will be hitting streets, parks, and villages to clear rubbish and make the district shine.
Business Owners, Your Turn to Step Up
Local groups have already registered litter-picks, but Millard says: “We need businesses on board, keeping their premises litter-free to match the tidy streets we’re aiming for.”
He urges business owners to get in touch through the council website. EHDC will supply free litter-picking kits including tools, bin bags, and hi-vis jackets. Once the rubbish is bagged, the council will even collect and dispose of it.
Spring Cleaning Gains Momentum
Since early March, EHDC has boosted street cleaning with extra crews and more vehicles. The campaign, running from 17 March to 2 April, coincides with the national effort to get East Hampshire spotless.
Groups and businesses are encouraged to snap their litter-picks and send photos to [email protected]. Selected images will be shared via EHDC’s social media to celebrate local pride.
It’s time for East Hampshire to clean up its act—and Millard wants everyone joining in.
