High-Risk Mental Health Patient Caught After West London Escape Drama

Vasile Coceban on the Run

Police have tracked down Vasile Coceban, 36, a man labelled “high-risk” and potentially dangerous, after a frantic hunt across West London. Coceban broke out of the secure Park Royal Centre for Mental Health in Acton at around 10.30am on Wednesday, April 16.

Major Police Search Launched

The Metropolitan Police issued an urgent appeal, warning residents not to approach Coceban if spotted but to dial 999 immediately. Officers urged locals to check their gardens and sheds, fearing he might be hiding nearby.

At the time of his escape, Coceban wore a purple camouflage hoodie, grey tracksuit bottoms, and light trainers. CCTV later caught him on Kilburn High Road at about 4.20pm the same day, now sporting a grey tracksuit top over a red T-shirt and carrying a large black rucksack. Police believe he changed clothes after fleeing.

Cross-London Movement and Possible Overnight Hiding

It’s understood Coceban may have travelled between Brent and Hyde Park on the London Underground. Detectives suspect he could have been sleeping rough or camping out in the Kilburn area during his time on the run.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Brien of the Met’s North West Command said: “A high-risk missing person investigation was quickly launched when we learned of the risk posed by Vasile. It is important we return him to the facility where he is being treated. Extensive patrols were conducted in the area where he was believed to be, and we are grateful to the public for remaining alert and assisting with our enquiries.”

Safe Return Confirmed

Police have now confirmed Coceban has been found and safely returned to the Park Royal Centre. The details of his escape and movements while on the run remain under investigation. Authorities haven’t revealed exactly when or where he was caught but have thanked the public for their help.
