An 11-year-old girl was brutally attacked by a dog while walking to school in Stepney Green, Tower Hamlets, on the morning of Wednesday, 28 September.
Dog Lunges and Bites Multiple Times
At around 8.30am, the girl was passing a man walking two dogs on Ben Jonson Road when one of the dogs suddenly lunged at her. It bit her repeatedly on the hand and arm, causing serious injuries.
A passing taxi driver heroically intervened, freeing the girl from the dog’s grasp. She was rushed to hospital, where she remains receiving treatment for several days, suffering from serious wounds including broken bones.
Dog Owner Flees the Scene
The owner of the dogs fled before police arrived. Detectives have now released video footage of the dogs and their owner to help identify him.
Detective Inspector Luke Hampton said: “This was a shocking and sustained attack on a young girl as she walked to school. The incident not only left her with serious injuries – including broken bones – but has also left her traumatised. We need to quickly identify the owner of these dogs to make sure this does not happen again.”
