Horrific Smash Shuts Down A12 Roundabout

Two men have died and two others are in hospital with serious injuries after a brutal car crash near junction 16 of the A12 in Chelmsford. Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after 3am on Sunday, March 23, following a collision on B1007 Stock Road.

A blue BMW 3 Series was found wrecked near a roundabout, its front end smashed beyond recognition. Debris was scattered across the road and onto nearby grass, painting a grim scene.

Two Men Pronounced Dead at Scene

Tragically, a driver in his 30s and a passenger in his 50s were pronounced dead at the scene. Essex Police have confirmed that the families have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. A second vehicle involved was stranded in the centre of the roundabout amid the wreckage.

Two Others Rushed to Hospital

Two additional men suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital. Police have yet to clarify whether these men were drivers or passengers in the crash.

Road Closed as Police Investigate

The road remains closed while forensic teams comb the area for clues. Essex Police have urged the public to avoid the site as their investigation continues. A spokesperson said:

“We ask the public to steer clear while we carry out our work. We want to hear from anyone who saw a blue BMW 3 Series around here in the early hours of March 23.”

Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Inspector James Freeman added:

“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who lost their lives. We’re working hard to find out what caused this collision. If you have CCTV, dash cam or any footage, please come forward immediately.”
