Red VW Golf thug knocks man out and steals phone in brutal Hythe attack
Police are hunting a violent mugger after a savage assault and robbery on Southampton Road, Hythe, on New Year’s Eve.
Crash and bash on Southampton Road
At around 10pm on Saturday, December 31, the victim was driving his Honda Civic R when a red VW Golf suddenly overtook him and slammed on the brakes. The abrupt stop caused a minor collision. The culprit then jumped out and ordered the victim to call the cops.
Knocked out cold and robbed
As the victim reached for his phone, the attacker punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious. When he came to, his Samsung Galaxy S7 had vanished.
Serious injuries and urgent appeal
The victim suffered a fractured cheekbone, whiplash, and a possible broken nose. Police describe the suspect as a white male in his 30s, about 5ft 10ins tall, with stubble and short dark hair. He spoke with a local accent and was driving a red VW Golf, possibly a GTI.
“I am appealing for anyone with information to come forward and speak to us,” said PC Claire Scammell.
