Overnight Dartford Crossing Closures Hit Motorists This Weekend
Drivers using the Dartford Crossing this weekend face overnight tunnel shutdowns as vital maintenance works take centre stage. The A282 northbound—linking Dartford, Kent, to Thurrock, Essex—will be closed between Friday, March 14, and Monday, March 17.
Nightly Tunnel Shutdowns and Diversions
- Friday, March 14 to Saturday, March 15: West Tunnel closed 9pm–6am.
- Saturday, March 15 to Sunday, March 16: West Tunnel closed 10pm–5am.
- Sunday, March 16 to Monday, March 17: East Tunnel closed 10pm–5am.
All closures come with diversions across National Highways roads, so expect detours if you’re travelling late at night or early morning.
Plan Ahead or Get Stuck in Traffic
The Dartford Crossing is a crucial Thames gateway and a major part of the busy M25 orbital route. Officials warn these closures are essential to keep the infrastructure safe and sound but stress that schedules might shift depending on weather or operational needs.
“Motorists should plan ahead and check live travel updates from National Highways and local traffic services before hitting the road,” experts advise.
