RAF Jets Scramble After Drunk Passenger Sparks Bomb Scare at Stansted
Jet2 Flight Diverted to Stansted
RAF fighter jets escorted a Jet2 Airbus A321 into London Stansted Airport at around 9pm on October 12. The plane, originally flying from Dalaman to Manchester, was diverted amid reports of a passenger claiming there was a device onboard.

Emergency services were waiting on the runway as the Airbus landed safely and was parked on a remote stand away from the passenger terminal. The incident briefly closed the runway, but it has since reopened.
Drunk Passenger Causes Alarm
“A 1 Airbus A321 with the RAF’s Quick Reaction Alert has been dispatched and is currently trailing behind the commercial airliner,” said a source. The alert was triggered after a drunk man onboard raised fears of a possible device.
A spokesperson from Stansted Airport confirmed: “The plane landed safely and is parked on a remote stand away from the main passenger terminal. The runway was closed for a short time but has now re-opened.”
