Terrified Woman Flees Stabbing Attack, Saves Life Thanks to Quick-Think Delivery Driver

A woman in Newark made a desperate run for her life after being brutally stabbed by her partner’s brother. Just as a delivery driver was about to leave Tudor Close, the victim, dressed only in underwear, bolted towards his car and begged him, “Please just go.”

Hero Delivery Driver Rushed Victim to Hospital

She begged the driver to take her to the hospital and called someone else to alert the police. Moments later, at Bowbridge Road traffic lights, two ambulances were waiting. The woman jumped out, and paramedics raced her to hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.

Shocking Attack by Partner’s Brother

The horrific assault happened on the morning of 7 July 2021. While the woman was in her kitchen opening the fridge, 34-year-old Andrius Sidlauskas suddenly began stabbing her. She managed to escape through the front door.

Sidlauskas, who lives on Tudor Close, was arrested and later pleaded guilty to wounding with intent. Last Friday (11 March 2022), he was jailed for four years at Nottingham Crown Court.

Police Praise Courage and Swift Justice

Detective Inspector Craig Hall from Nottinghamshire Police said: “The victim’s injuries were serious due to this vicious attack. I commend the delivery driver for acting quickly to protect her and alert the police.

“Our response team and detectives did a fantastic job arresting and charging Sidlauskas. The victim has shown tremendous courage supporting this prosecution while recovering physically and emotionally.

“The attack was completely unprovoked. I hope this conviction helps her recovery and reassures the public that Nottinghamshire Police will take firm action against those who use knives and threaten safety.

“Knife crime and violence seriously affect our communities. We will always work to bring violent offenders to justice.”
