Massive Blaze Hits Chessington Furniture Warehouse

Twelve fire engines and about eighty firefighters have been scrambled to tackle a massive fire at the Moden furniture warehouse on Barwell Business Park, Chessington.

Multiple Units Engulfed, Road Shut

The fire is raging through several units along Leatherhead Road, which remains closed to all traffic. Officials warn locals to steer clear of the area amid thick smoke billowing across the business park.

Fire Chief Issues Urgent Warning

Station Commander Neil Guyett at the scene said: “Crews arrived to a well-developed fire affecting several units and are working hard to bring it under control. There is thick smoke issuing across the business park. We advise members of the public to keep their doors and windows closed.”

Emergency Services Racing Against Time

The fire brigade was called out at 6.36pm. Firefighters from Surbiton, Kingston, Sutton, Croydon, Norbury, and local units are battling the flames.

The fire’s cause is currently under investigation by the Brigade’s Fire Investigation Unit and the police service. More updates to follow.
