Twelve fire engines and 81 firefighters raced to a blazing fire at an industrial estate in Leyton early this morning. The two-storey laundrette unit suffered heavy damage in the inferno.

Massive Fire Erupts at Leyton Industrial Estate

Emergency services were scrambled at 3:34am following reports of thick smoke and flames at Argall Avenue. Firefighters battled the blaze for over four hours, finally bringing it under control by 7:53am.

Smoke Fears Spark Safety Warning

Group Manager Simon Amos, who oversaw the operation, warned locals to keep windows and doors shut due to the heavy smoke. “Crews worked hard to get the fire under control,” he said.

Cause Still Unknown

Fire crews from Leyton, Walthamstow, Homerton, Stoke Newington, Tottenham and nearby stations joined the fight. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
