Flames Break Out on Quarry Hill Road
A bus engine burst into flames on Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge, causing major disruption late Tuesday afternoon. The blaze broke out at 5:17pm on June 11, 2024, prompting a swift emergency response.
Firefighters Race to the Scene
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) sent two fire engines and a team of firefighters armed with breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze. Using high-pressure hose reel jets, crews quickly doused the flames, bringing the fire under control by 5:48pm.
No Injuries as Investigation Begins
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident. A KFRS spokesperson said, “We were called to reports of an engine fire on a bus in Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge. Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.”
Fire investigators are now probing the cause of the fire, with details yet to be confirmed.
Traffic Disrupted but Now Back to Normal
The emergency response temporarily affected local traffic on Quarry Hill Road. However, the road has since reopened and traffic flow has returned to normal following the quick actions of the fire crews.
