Essex Fire Engine Flips En Route to Suffolk Blaze – Three Hurt

Drama struck tonight as an Essex fire appliance overturned while racing to a field fire in Suffolk, leaving three firefighters injured.

At 7:40pm on Thursday 9 August, an off-road fire vehicle from Manningtree Fire Station was speeding to tackle a field fire in Bulmer when it flipped over near Stoke by Nayland. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Rescue and Injuries

Two crew members managed to escape immediately. Two more were trapped until fellow firefighters and paramedics freed them. Three firefighters were rushed to hospital for checks, but thankfully, none suffered life-threatening injuries.

Essex Fire Service Statement

“This evening a fire service vehicle overturned while responding on blue lights. The incident did not involve any other vehicle. Three crew members were taken to hospital for further assessment, but their injuries are not life-threatening.”

Emergency services praised their crews for quick action in a dangerous situation.
