Car Crashes Into Building in South Woodford

A major road is shut after a car smashed into a building in South Woodford this morning (January 7).

Serious Collision on A1199

The crash happened at 10:17am on the A1199, between the George Woodford pub and Bressey Grove, according to traffic reports. The High Road is closed in both directions as emergency teams investigate.

Air Ambulance and HART Team Rush to Scene

The London Air Ambulance helicopter, complete with flying doctors, was scrambled alongside a specialist HART team. Police from the Metropolitan Serious Collision Investigation Unit are leading the probe.

Driver Dies at Scene

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called around 10:10am to reports of a car colliding with a building on High Road, E18. Officers, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance attended. The driver, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:41am. Next of kin are being informed. At this stage, it appears no other vehicles were involved. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Road closures are expected to last for some time as the investigation continues.
